How do you prepare for the indoor installation?

To get BASE Internet, you need a basic configuration

This includes:

  • (1) A network switch (NIU)
This is where the distribution cable is connected. It’s the cable that enters your home from outside.
  • (2) A BASE modem
The modem is connected to the network distributor so you can use the internet and Wi-Fi.

What is the ideal location for the basic configuration?

It should be installed where the distribution cable enters your home. This is often in a basement, garage or near the electricity, water and gas meters. For safety reasons, never install the equipment in a hard-to-access space under the home or in a damp room (such as a bathroom).

Please also keep the following in mind:

  • There must be enough free space on the wall: at least 40 × 50 centimetres, where the distribution cable enters the home.
  • 3 earthed mains outlets are required.
  • The distance between the modem and the network distributor must be no more than 2 metres. They should be placed close to each other.

If a technician comes to install your internet, please stay at home during the appointment and make sure that at least one adult is present.
