What is the Street-to-Home service?

To use BASE Internet, your home must be connected to the cable network.

  • The Cable connection allows this connection to be activated if this is not the case yet.
  • The Street-to-Home service goes a step further: if a distribution cable also needs to be installed between the street and your home, our technician can bring and install this cable for you, provided the on-site conditions allow it.

Good to know

The Street-to-Home service is available only in Wallonia and in certain postcodes in Brussels: 1050, 1060, 1140, 1150, 1160, 1180.

Do you need this service?

Not necessarily. In many cases, your home is already connected to the cable network. If so, noadditional work is required.

The easiest way to check? Enter your address into our address checker. You will then see your situation and what's possible at your place.

What is included?

If a distribution cable is required to connect your home, the technician can supply and install it for you, provided that the technical conditions allow this. In some cases, the technician may also need to drill a small hole through the facade in order to bring the cable into the property.

What do you need to prepare before the appointment?

Although the technician will take care of installing the distribution cable, you must ensure that everything is ready for their visit.

  • You should be present throughout the appointment.
  • The technician must also have easy access to your home, the facade and any communal areas that may be required, such as a technical room or a meter room.
  • If you are a tenant, remember to obtain your landlord’s permission in advance, particularly if drilling through the external wall may be necessary.

Who decides whether the service can be provided?

The technician will assess the situation on site during the appointment. They will determine whether installation of the distribution cable is technically

feasible at your address. This depends in particular on the location of the distribution point, the distance to your property, the type of external wall and access to the building. For example, the service cannot be provided if your façade is protected or if the distance between your property and the distribution point is too great.

For full details of the technical and practical requirements for the service, please consult the Cable Brochure (pages 8 and 9). This is the reference document.

If the technician determines on site that the service cannot be provided, you will need to purchase the required cable yourself and carry out, or arrange for, the necessary installation work.

In some cases, an alternative solution offered by a partner company may also be considered.

Who decides whether the service can be provided?

The Street-to-Home service is an optional service that costs €45. This service is always linked to the Cable Access. This means that if you choose the Cable Access Service, the €50 Cable Network Connection charge is always added to the €45 Street-to-Home service charge. The total cost is therefore €95.

However, you may require the Cable Access without choosing the Street-to-Home Service. In that case, you pay only the €50 Cable Access charge.

Your situation

What you pay

Your home is already connected to the cable network.

You only need the Cable Acces.

You also choose the Street-to-Home Service.

The additional €45 charge is therefore payable only if the technician is actually able to provide the Street-to-Home service at your address.

Who decides whether the service can be provided?

You will find all legal terms and conditions in the Cable Brochure. This includes, in particular, conditions relating to service availability, maximum distances, permitted facade and material types, required authorisations, any works that may be necessary and the applicable charges. This is the reference document for all conditions relating to both the Cable Access and the Street-to-Home Service.
