Watching TV without box with the BASE TV app or website

Thanks to the BASE TV app or websie you watch without TV box. You watch on your smartphone, tablet, or even your laptop or PC. But how do you do that exactly?

What do you need?

  • A BASE TV subscription. 
  • An internet connection via wifi or mobile in the European Union. 
  • The BASE TV app via Android or iOS, or the BASE TV website. 
  • Your BASE login. Discover how you create it.
  • The latest software on your device or the right browser.

On which devices and software are the BASE TV app and website available?

The BASE TV app

Do you want to watch with the BASE TV app? Make sure the software versions of your devices are up to date:
  • Android smartphone or tablet: version 7.0.
  • Android TV: version 10 or later.
  • iPhone & iPad: version 15.0.
  • Apple TV: version 13.

Is your device up to date? Then you can download the BASE TV app in the Google Play Store or the App Store.

You can also stream the app from your phone to your TV with Chromecast or AirPlay. Make sure that your smartphone/tablet are connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV with Chromecast/Airplay.

Important: 

  • Chromecast v1 (2013) no longer works in combination with the BASE TV app. In this case, the customer is advised to switch to a more recent device.
  • Some TV devices, like Samsung or LG smart tv's, do not use Android or iOS (Apple). You cannot download the BASE TV app on these. Are you not sure if you can download the app on your smart tv? Search the app in the (app) store of your device. No results? Then your device is not compatible with the BASE TV app.

The BASE TV website

On base.tv you can watch tv on your laptop or PC. Make sure your web browser is up to date:
  • Chrome (Windows and macOS: version 100 or later)
  • Firefox (Windows and macOS: version 68 or later) 
  • Edge (Windows 10 or later)
  • Safari (version 12.2 or later)

Do you use Chrome or Firefox? Then the Widevine CDM plugin must be enabled.
