Why is your data calculated on a prorated basis?

When your subscription starts or changes during a billing cycle, the data usage shown in My BASE is temporarily calculated on a prorated basis. This means the available data volume only covers the number of days remaining until your next bill.

Once the next bill is generated, everything goes back to normal and you automatically benefit from your full monthly data volume.

Good to know: for internet, this only applies to BASE Limited Internet. For mobile, it applies to all plans, as they all include a limited data volume.

You've just become a BASE customer and you're in your first billing cycle. Wondering why your data volume seems limited?

This is because your first month is automatically calculated on a prorated basis.
Your data volume only covers the remaining days until your next bill. As long as your first bill hasn’t been generated yet, My BASE will therefore show a partial data volume.

From the next billing cycle onwards, you’ll benefit from 100% of the monthly data volume included in your subscription.

Example: your billing cycle runs from the 1st to the 30th of the month and you join BASE on the 20th. You’ll see roughly 10 days’ worth of data in My BASE until your first bill is generated. From the next cycle, your full monthly data volume will be available.

Your bill will also reflect your first month on a prorated basis.

You've switched to a higher plan and you're wondering why your new data volume is calculated on a prorated basis?

If you upgrade during a billing cycle:

  • Your new data volume applies immediately.
  • However, it's calculated on a prorated basis until your next bill is generated.
This lets you enjoy your new plan right away, while avoiding any surprises on your bill. Don't worry, from the next billing cycle onwards, the full data volume of your new plan will be available.

Example: you upgrade your plan on the 15th of the month and your billing cycle ends on the 30th. Your higher data volume applies immediately, but only for the remaining 15 days. From the next bill onwards, you get the full monthly data volume of your upgraded plan.

You've switched to a lower plan and you're wondering how your data volume is calculated?

If you downgrade during a billing cycle:

  • Your new data volume applies immediately.
  • It's calculated on a prorated basis until the next bill is generated.
From the next billing cycle onwards, you’ll benefit from the full monthly data volume of your new subscription.

Example: you downgrade your plan on the 10th of the month, with your billing cycle ending on the 30th. The lower data volume applies immediately and is calculated only for the remaining 20 days. From the next cycle, the full monthly data volume of your new plan applies.
