Mandatory identification for prepaid SIM cards

When you buy a prepaid SIM card, BASE, as a telecom provider, is legally required to identify you. This is one of the anti-terrorism measures adopted by the Belgian government.

This means you must provide us with certain personal data in order to use your prepaid card.

Here is how you can identify yourself at BASE digitally (via the My BASE app or on the website).

The easiest way to identify yourself is via Itsme. You then immediately share the correct personal data with BASE.

Registering in the My BASE app via a photo of your identity card will get you through the identification process in no time. You upload a photo of yourself, along with a photo of your Belgian identity card, European identity card or international passport. The system then does a comparison based on biometric data. If the check is successful, we delete your uploaded photos and you can continue with your order.

As an existing BASE customer, we registered you during your first purchase. We therefore already have the necessary personal data. You can skip a new identification by logging in with your BASE login details. Don't have a login yet? You can create one easily.

Did you buy your SIM card in a shop? Then you can register it with a card reader.

You can identify yourself by providing your personal details manually. You can do this here.
